I want more MOAG!

Okay so as much as I do want more MOAG... what I actually want is to be able to look up stuff on MOAG and not have to run immediately to West or Carl for a MOAG related question.

So I make a proposition to all MOAGers, I want to finish everything for the fabled MOAG Book, that's right, I said: "EVERYTHING"

There's been lots of talk about finishing the MOAG Book, for example finishing all playable species descriptions and fixing all the little errors that have come up through play, (such as weapon weights, damage, costs and so forth) but with all the talk we actually haven't got around to doing anything... and I want to now.

I think finishing the MOAG Book will, in general, make MOAG more user friendly and noob learnable and less confusing. I also think it's a huge step in make MOAG more widely accessible to those who don't have the creator of the universe within a ten minute drive.

The biggest problem with this proposition is the carrying out of the plan... HOW we are going to finish the MOAG Book... I have a few ideas:

1) We keep a MOAG Error Book, where we can, if ever there is something that comes up during play that is incorrect or misinformation in the MOAG Book, we can write it down in the MOAG Error Book and correct the information later in the week when we are not playing.

2) I will go through the MOAG Book and make a list of everything that needs to be updated, and I will post it here, that way, all MOAG veterans can look over the list and just post what they know on the topics, and afterwards i will take that info, retype it and put it back into the MOAG Book.

Those are my two big ideas, however any input at all will be much appreciated. Please give me ideas on how we can better the MOAG Book, or how we can facilitate the access of MOAG information.

Is MOAG Dead?

Where is MOAG? Last time I checked MOAG was nowhere to be found. Perhaps it fell in here?
Ahhh... But MOAG is not dead! It has indeed taken a fall, however I continue to write! others continue to draw/paint... do art stuff. whatever.
Anyway where was I going with this?
Ah yes. MOAG has had a long sabbatical, but now is the time for it to spring into action! This is a call to all my past MOAGing people! Let do this!
I WANNA PLAY!

The Ultimate Equalizer-O-Matic. Of Doom.

Okay, so reading the post about Player characters starting out as High Level Bad @#%$#@!! got me thinking: "What would be the ultimate way to equalize a biological/robotic implant-improvement to any character?" I had a lot of ideas, ranging from anything from putting a skill point requirement (A player-character must have earned 5000 XP before they would even begin to know who to approach for a "brain box") to making the player keep accurate track of time played, seeing as the brain box can only be "mobile" for 3 hours until it shutsdown, which wouldn't be too good. I personally liked this one, imagine the sight of a highly evolved Brain Box getting stuck in a sticky situation because the extension chord only reaches 50 feet and he hasn't charged up his internal battery because he spent the previous evening putting the moves on the trashy old IBM at the local Cybercafe.

So this got me really thinking. Why should we be limited by rational thought? Why not put some really crazy limitations on cybernetic enhancements that make it a crapshoot as to whether you want to do it or not! So with out any further ado, I bring you the ULTIMATE EQUALIZER-O-MATIC. Of DOOM!

The rules are simple You post a comment listing a way to equalize player characters. Only it CANNOT make sense. Or at least it shouldn't be feasible just because of the absurdity of it all! Okay Have fun and don't forget to wear a helmet!

Here's my official entry:

There is no cost limitation or XP limitation for a brain box. The Player character does all of his character generation and gets all of his super high rolls. When he has soiled himself in the warm glow of his mega-character, then the GM drops this little bombshell:
"Okay, now you have to know one thing about the brain box. One of your attributes is totally bogus. I'm not going to tell you which one, but when you get into battle and your strength really turns out to be a 5 instead of a 30, don't say I didn't warn you". Or how about this! After character creation is finished, the GM has the Player roll a 4 sided die for an undisclosed reason. When the player character finally asks what "extra" skills his '4' gets him, the GM calmly tells him that's how many of his attributes are bogus, again, not telling the player which ones. Or to really get the player character to soil themselves, don't tell them about the bogus attribute until they happen to "find out" they only have a strength of 5 after they engage in a bar fight with a horde of drunken Klisks.

Okay, I could go on all day. Anyway, let's see what you got!

Wait a Minute!

All this talk about balance in the game has got me thinking........ Why? What is really the point? So what if people favor certain species over others? Do we really have to balance everything out? AND why? So that M.O.A.G. can be Politically Correct?

Also not everyone favors the same characters. Like Shadowwire mentioned, I know someone that has two Ucasi characters and he probably will never have anything else. I favor Klisks and Gargonans for the sole reason that when the going gets tough, I'm usually the one that got it to that point and I need a character that can take the brunt of most combat.

The point I'm trying to make is M.O.A.G. doesn't need more balance. Diversity yes, but the balance comes from people figuring out what the strengths and weaknesses are for their characters and working them to their advantage.

Character Balance

I think that Mr. Shadowwire has done a great job balancing the different races and other character issues in MOAG. Whether he came up with them all or had help is immaterial.

However, last friday night, some players and I discussed the human race and Moag and noticed that they seem to be somewhat lacking. I understand why Shadowwire set them up the way he did, but I and others think they need to have something that embodies the human spirit or will.
The idea we came up with is giving the humans a higher add roll. The reasoning is that humans, to survive, would have to be really good at something. By giving them a higher add roll, they have the possibility of being higher than average. And that would make sense since only the strongest, smartest humans survived the nerve gas attack deployed by the Conar.

The other idea that has been discussed between Bot and Shadowwire was making comeliness rolls all the same for each race. This would of course make sense because the only appeal a characters looks would be with a member of its own race.
Another idea would be to remove comeliness altogether. Reasoning being that there isn't any skill rolls or abilities that calculate comeliness into the base.

So to recap.
1. Humans need higher add roll for better game balance.
2. Comeliness rolls same across all races.
3. Comeliness roll removed due to uselessness.

So discuss away.
