Okay, I liked the idea of a basic star 'type' shape. But the five pointed star didn't do it for me either so I decided to tinker with it. So, while keeping to Salvaggio's original creation I did one I thought would be cool. Hope you like. Yeah, I changed the colors too. In case you're red/green colorblind or something. :D

Nice job Kang. I'd envisioned the logo to be red as well. Hadn't moved on to color yet, old graphic design thing (they always teach you to design in black and white first). I really like your star. Anyway, I think the consensus is that the Skull will be the one constant, and depending on the unit and function, the rest will change. Like the shield for more official political offices, admirals and whatnot, and the others for single units or platoons. Perhaps a more detailed post will be forthcoming about it...
Nice, Kang! I like the new star shape. The old one just looked a little too "Earthy" to me. These all look like they come from an alien race now.
Now the star one is my favorite. I think, It can be for aircraft, the middle for footsoldiers, and the shield for vehicles....

I think all of the insignias say something.
For instance, the shild seems to roar of might and dominance! It's like the mountain that will roll over the mole-hill. It is direct, obvious and meant to be seen. It's the perfect insignia to represent, as Salvaggio suggested, the Admiralty.
The one in the middle seems perfect to represent the general military force employed by the Admiralty, with it's suggestion of a sword dominating the background, is sword of the Admiralty, the weapon most commonly and visibly used to enforce their military will. With the directness of its symbolism mirroring that of the shield, it seems to not shout of itself, but to reinforce the statement of the greater symbol of the Admiralty. It could represent the general military in its entirety.
The star shape, with its many points and symbols arranged acentrically, not upon the background symbol, but interspersed throught the insignia, suggests that the aim of the force is multifaceted and less direct.
The star points being sharp pointed and multi-directional, could represent the aim to not demolish an obsticle, but to remove, disable or otherwise neutralize it in a more precise or acute manner. Perhaps not always violently. It could be more cunning, unexpected, but always permanent.
So it could represent those who engage less in public military affairs and in more covert/strategic or invisible operations. Ie. special forces and military intelligence.
Well, that's what I think anyway. I think there is a lot said in the symbolism of each. The insignia sort of tell *us* what they want to be used for. :)
