Hope you like this post. One of the other stories posted got me thinking. What else was going on in the city? What if there was somting else happening during the hunt?
Out of breath Mark ran down the subway tunnel. Looking for a safe haven. Where had these creatures come from? Why? The air was so filled with smoke and death. Growing up in New York, Mark knew how to take care of himself. But this wasn't what he was used to. He was.... scared. He heard footsteps somewhere behind him. Please.... please don't let them find me. The wall to the left of him seemed to turn to fire, as he was knocked to the ground.
Mark scrambled to his feet, "Damn, what do you want? leave me alone!!!!"
He was greeted by a low rumbling sound, was that a laugh? Before he could run the large metal creature grasped him by the waist. With one giant hand it lifted him to its face. Mark struggled to get free. He didn't stand a chance, but he had to try. Pain shot through him, and everything went dark.
Mark woke in a room filled with other people. Two of the giant creatures where at the only door. He was alive..... how? "Ooh my head. What did they do?" Another man sitting in the room was complaining. "Don't worry," another said. "These ones aren't here to hurt you.?
"What do you mean?" asked Mark. The man looked at Mark, no visible expression on his face. "Its a long story, lets wait tell the others wake up."
Mark rubbed his head, such a headache. "Fine by me, I can hardly see straight anyway."
The door opened, and another creature came in with a woman in his left hand and another two men in his right. It tossed them into the room and left. One of the Guards inspected the prisoners. It found that one of the men had a broken arm. It made some strange noises, and took off its helmet. Helmet.... these where not machines.... what..... they where so large.... and....
This took Mark, and a few others off guard. A woman in the room screamed. Another man found an opportunity, and charged the alien creature. But the creature saw him coming and casually knocked him away, a good 45 feet away. And from the way the man landed Mark strongly suspected that the man was ether dead, or would be without urgent medical attention. The creature made a disappointed sound. And spoke some strange language to the other guard. The strange man sitting in the corner said, "The captain wont be happy, we came to save as many as we could." Mark turned to the man, but lost for words just stared. "Suppose it is time to let you know...."
There was gun fire outside the door, and several explosions. Then the door opened and about fifteen of the creatures came through. They grabbed as many "prisoners" as they could carry, which turned out to be quite a few. The strange man grabbed Mark. He was incredibly strong. One of the guards pointed a gun at the wall far wall. And the others moved away from the wall. The creature pulled the trigger twice and put a large hole in the wall. The creature carried away the prisoners. And the strange man pulled Mark away. "We have to move or you will all die." The gun fire was getting closer, and Mark looked back. More of the creatures where fighting there way into the room. They tossed down several devices and ran with the others, away from the battle. Mark saw another creature running after them. The creature fired multiple shots at the group. And one of the big creatures carrying prisoners was hit. The armor was badly damaged and one of the prisoners was killed. The injured creature tossed the surviving prisoner to another, and turned to fight the oncoming hostels. Mark saw the devices open and begin firing on the creatures that where coming for them. Mark didn't get to see much more of the battle. Three ships came into view and picked up the crew and prisoners.
more to come.......
