A new start

Well... The first one was very flat and retarded, but after sort-of following a tutorial with a more box-modeling approach, here is what I've gotten so far. I like that it has so much more depth, and I like the box-modeling approach. This is my first time trying it, and the tutorial was annoying in some ways, but it had some useful ideas in it, and is my first look at this kind of idea. I'll admit it needs a lot more tweaking, but I'm happy with where It's going now. I'll upload some files somewhere, and give you guys a link. As for now, I'll be giving it more detail. It needs ears, and an eyeball, but Ill get to that in a little bit. I might use a low-poly model I got, and tweak it into the torso and limbs, but I'll do the head before I worry about anything else. I got the model here.

What has come so far....

Well Thanks Salvaggio! Here's what has come of my project so far. This is only a few minutes of work, so it looks pretty crappy, but I'm working in it.

well, I'm sort-of wanting to try Sam's idea. Here's what he's gotten fish (my sister Trishelle) to draw:

A very wide range of topics...

Okay, Squirrel, there's a picture. It's old, and not quite in the "t" pose that most animators start with, but give it a try, it should prove a good challenge but one I'm sure you can handle. I'll try to get you something. Maybe when I finish the pyro I'll give you a t pose for him. But until then, this will have to do.

Topic #2: Everybody remember Car Wars? If you do, and Shadowwire I know you do, then you need to check this out. It looks pretty sweet and darn near awesome. Reminds me of the glory days of Battletech, and all the goodness we used to have at Joe-Bob's house. I remember fondly the 10 hours of setup time, the gallons of Root Beer consumed, Colin slapping me on the back of the head and the resulting... uh, incident that followed. Plus I'm pretty sure I gained like 20 lbs. every time we had the Battletech weekend thanks to the food and snacks that were readily available. Then there was the game itself, I'd never thought so much blood could be spilt over a pen and paper game, but there was a lot. All I need to say is "Red Dwarf" (Not the British comedy, but my spry little 35 tonner that brought Shadowwire to his knees...) I can still see his mangled little paper counter, lying there in a heap of twisted hopes and dreams. (sniff) WHY! WHY CRUEL FATE! WHY!?? I DEMAND SATISFACTION!
Well, back to Car Wars. It looks really cool, and it would be fun to play, what do you think Shadowwire?

Topic #3: Spore. Now, i'm sorry Squirrel, that your PC can't run the spore creature creator. But you have to realize, this game comes from the same company that brought you Crysis, the game where all lesser computers go to die. Literally. Let's check out the requirements for this beauty of a game:

Minimum Requirements

CPU: Intel Pentium 4 2.8 GHz (3.2 GHz for Vista), Intel Core 2.0 GHz (2.2 GHz for Vista), AMD Athlon 2800+ (3200+ for Vista) or better
RAM: 1GB (1.5GB on Windows Vista)
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 6800 GT, ATI Radeon 9800 Pro (Radeon X800 Pro for Vista) or better
VRAM: 256MB of Graphics Memory
Storage: 12GB
Sound Card: DirectX 9.0c Compatible
ODD: DVD-ROM
OS: Microsoft Windows XP or Vista
DirectX: DX9.0c or DX10

Recommended Requirements

CPU: Core 2 Duo/Athlon X2 or better
RAM: 1.5GB
Video Card: NVIDIA 7800 Series, ATI Radeon 1800 Series or better
VRAM: 512MB of Graphics Memory
Storage: 12GB
Sound Card: DirectX 9.0c Compatible
ODD: DVD-ROM
OS: Microsoft Windows XP or Vista
DirectX: DX9.0c or DX10

I don't know about you, but I don't have anywhere near that kind of PC here at home. At work, sure, but what's the fun of playing games at work! Wait, what am I saying? Playing games at work rocks! Especially when you can't get in trouble for it!.

Anyway, sorry to hear that it won't run on your machine Squirrel, here's hoping that sometime soon a new (or even a pre-certified Used) computer falls into your hands. Until then, keep chugging away. We're rooting for you.

And the Spore Goes On

Well, I am officially addicted to this "game" and this "game" hasn't even been released yet...... weird. The Spore Creature Creator is just so freaking awesome!

It's time for another episode of Name That M.O.A.G. Species!

I think that some of the creatures I make turn out a little cartoony (and the Klisk I am working on looks like a giant monkey) but I think this Sargonian turned out pretty cool.

Talents that need use..

You guys should give me character references to attempt to model in blender. All I need is at least close to symmetrical (as close as possible, cool poses come when it's ready to animate) Front, side, and back views (It will be exactly the same on the right and left sides, as if it's been cut straight in half from top to bottom, and put on a mirror so quickly that there is no blood seen.) Try to keep every important detail visible (cool teeth means mouth wide open; body posed, as if unrealistically stretching.) I don't want to attempt a Nareskan head again, as it is very asymmetrical, but would gladly try a Sargonan. Give me ideas, and sketches, so that I can get something more MOAG-related on this blog (being a 4hr drive away from you guys, and without a license does not help when trying to be more of a part of this MOAG universe.)... anyway, This seems to me a cool idea to get more familiar to MOAG, heighten my artistic skills, and use all of this free time, so please respond in any way you feel necessary, and after a lot of time, and unavoidable frustration (Salvaggio, PUT THE NOZZLE AWAY!) ..with crappy PCs, this hopefully will have successfully happened. W00T!

Hi people.

Grr... sorry, but this is stupid and won't animate gifs! So I'm talking about what took me maybe 5 min. to make in blender, that shows off a cool Idea.

..however, I think I'm stuck with youtube. Grr..

anyway... Here is the tutorial that showed HOW I made my gif, that you can't see.
Yes, I had a monkey head moving off camera. :)

Yay! Finally got the invite.

well, this may be unrelated to MOAG, but I thought it was cool, and am about to attempt a tree the same way.

This was made entirely in Blender.
Check out the site, and notice that it is free, open-source, and only 9 MB download!
It's just as good as max, and if you need proof, check out my first blog.
There are some cool vids showing off blender's awesome capability... and so on.

German Power Supreme

So this also has nothing to do with MOAG, but I don't care.

So for all of yous that know and the rest that don't, I am going on a Mission to Hamburg, Germany. I leave for the MTC on September 10th.

And I am crazy excited. So watch out...

18.6.08

Hold on, I'm trying to figure this out...

This post has no ties whatsoever to MOAG. It really doesn't. I've tried and tried, but I can't think of a single thing that would make this MOAG acceptable, but then, maybe that's the beauty of it all! The more I think it's different, the more it's the same!

Okay, now that we've established that the post has nothing to do with MOAG, let's get to the topic.

That's right. Season 3 just started. And if you don't like Johnny Quest on Crack (and who doesn't!) then maybe this isn't for you. But for the rest of us, the sweet nectar of goodness washes over us as we gorge ourselves at the table of awesome. If you don't have the Cartoon Network, you can go to here and watch the episodes online. They are awesome!

They are already 3 episodes in, so sit back and enjoy Dr. Killinger and his Magic Murder Bag!

The Master of the Masters

My favorite gaming experience with willpower is in a recent game where Mr. Bot and I had fun springing the former Gargen? wearers from the hands of the Conar. Cause I teleported... oh yeah...

Another favorite has to be told in a story.

So once upon a time there was these peoples called the Masters. Moag's illustrious creator once told me about them and explained to me they were very powerful willpower users. So I made a campaign and I used a NPC that was a Master and I made him very powerful. To make the story short (and to stop boring myself), Sol Lan a.k.a The Watcher more or less re-powered the Masters to their current strength in the game.

Now to my favorite willpower techniques... I have to say that I don't have a favorite. There are a lot of them and I can't choose. Cause honestly if I could do all those techniques... well lets just say the world as you know it wouldn't be recognizable.

Work In Progress (Belated Non-MOAG Monday MOAG Art)

Been working on this for the last week. Lot's of fun. It's based on the Pyro from TF2. I did the sketch and am doing all the coloring and whatnot in Illustrator, which has been a blast. Anyway, hopefully this post will keep Pablo from going insane. I'll try to get to the next chapter in "The Story That Shall Remain Nameless", Wes and I discussed some interesting things that I'm eager to put in the story. Anyway, I'm tired and going to bed now.
